pictus catfish are very attractive and is a social catfish. These catfish sport 3 pairs of whiskers and. The long whiskers mean that they are predatory and will chase down and eat small fish ( though mine have not yet bothered my white cloud minnows ). These fish grow 4- 5 inches, but usually stay 3-4 inches. These fish constantly swim around so a long tank is recommended. Water isn't a real issue as long as you have clean water and a temp. between 74 - 80 degrees F. Breeding these fish has not yet occurred in captivity but you can try and attempt it ( I suspect mine are male and female, they seem to tolerate each other and follow each other around ). these fish will do great in a planted aquarium, but beware of small fish, they may start disappearing.
P.s.: do not handle these fish by hand, there spines/ fins are poisonous and may get tangled up in nets ( mine had a missing pectoral spine, but he healed up quick ). only catch these fish using a plastic container.
